Executive Summary:
City Council Policy 115.18 - Key to the City states in Section II.2. “Council Members shall be allowed to nominate persons to receive a “Key to the City”. Nominations need not be made in writing and may be presented during Council dinner meetings, work sessions, and as allowed by N.C.G.S. 143-318.11. Nominations by Council Members must be approved by a majority vote of the Council”
Background:
During the Monday, March 3, 2025, City Council Work Session, Council Member Benavente submitted a Council Member Agenda Item Request to request consensus for presentation of the Key to the City for Mr. Roosevelt Pratt, Jr., E.E. Smith Magnificent Marching Machine Band Director.
Consensus of City Council was to approve the Key to the City.
