Background:
The Fayetteville Public Works Commission, during the meeting on May 27, 2026, approved the purchase award for Inventory - BABA Galvanized Steel Transmission Poles to Nucor Towers & Structures Inc, Rock Hill, SC, the lowest responsive, responsible bidder and in the best interests of PWC in the total amount of $4,124,316.95, and forward to City Council for approval.

Issues/Analysis:
The bid notice was advertised through our usual channels on April 21, 2026, with
a bid opening date of May 12, 2026. Bids were solicited from three (3) vendors, and three (3) bids were received. The Electric Engineering and Warehouse Department request the rejection of bids that are non-conforming to the specified bid requirements, including bids containing material contractual exceptions to PWC’s standard Sale of Goods Agreement. SDBE / SLS Participation Nucor Tower & Structures, Inc, Rock Hill, SC, is not a small local or SDBE business. Nucor Tower & Structures, Inc, anticipates to self-perform this contract.

The Fayetteville Public Works Commission recommends that City Council approve the purchase award for Inventory - BABA Galvanized Steel Transmission Poles to Nucor Towers & Structures Inc, Rock Hill, SC, the lowest responsive, responsible bidder and in the best interests of PWC in the total amount of $4,124,316.95, and authorize the CEO and General Manager of the Fayetteville Public Works Commission to execute for that purpose the contract for its purchase.
