Executive Summary:

The City Council Policies Review Committee reviewed eight City Council Policies at the June 17 meeting.  From the meeting the Committee unanimously approved revisions to City Council Policy 115.15, Protocol 11 - City Council Request to Add Agenda Items.

 

The Committee Members are Council Member Derrick Thompson (Chair), Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Jensen, and Council Member D.J. Haire.  Staff serving this Committee are  Lachelle Pulliam, City Attorney, Jeffrey Yates, Assistant City Manager, Jodi Phelps, Assistant City Manager, and Jennifer Ayre, City Clerk.

 

Background: 

At the May 20, 2025, and June 17, 2025, Committee Meetings, discussion ensued regarding the time allowance for agenda item requests based on Policy # 115.15, Protocol 11 - City Council Request to Add Agenda Items.

 

At the June 17, 2025, meeting Ms. Jennifer Ayre, City Clerk, presented the recommended edits from the May 20, 2025 meeting for City Council Policy 115.15.

 

Under Protocol 9 add “C. It is recommended for Council Member Requests, that Council Members reach out to one another in advance of the Work Session”.

 

Under Protocol 11 “The Council Member making the request will be given 5 minutes at the end of the Work Session to make a presentation in support of their request and 5 minutes will be allotted for questions for a total of 10 minutes.”

 

Consensus of the Committee was to approve the changes and add to the August 11, 2025 Regular Meeting Consent Agenda.
