Executive Summary:
This item provides a progress update on the proposed Glenville Lake Crossing & East Shore Trail Project in the City of Fayetteville. The project is currently in the design phase, with the City under contract with Stewart Engineering to complete engineering and design services. To date, key preliminary tasks have been completed, including surveying, public engagement, geotechnical engineering, and schematic design. Design efforts are continuing toward completion of final design to prepare the project for future implementation.
Background:
The Glenville Lake Crossing and Lake Shore Trail is a proposed multi-use trail located along the east side of Glenville Lake in the City of Fayetteville. The project is currently in the design phase, with the City under contract with Stewart Engineering to complete engineering and design services. Design efforts are underway to develop plans for a 10-foot-wide asphalt or concrete multi-use path with 2-foot crushed stone shoulders, designed in accordance with AASHTO and ADA guidelines.
The proposed trail is intended to serve walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and other non-motorized users by providing a safe and seamless route connecting surrounding neighborhoods to Murchison Road, Fayetteville State University, and existing transit stops and sidewalks.
