Executive Summary:
Staff has provided a proposed 2027 City Council Meeting Dates Calendar. The calendar also identifies Council budget work sessions, and conferences for elected officials.
The proposed calendar shows the Monday, September 6, 2027, Work Session moved to Tuesday, September 7, 2027, due to the observance of Labor Day.
Direction is requested on the Work Session Dates for October and November. In 2025, both Work Sessions were cancelled due to elections the next day.
Direction is requested regarding potential dates for the Strategic Planning Retreats for October.
Background:
To ensure that citizens are aware of all public meetings and events and that the City adheres to the NC Open Meetings Act. Staff has prepared the attached 2027 City Council Meeting Dates Calendar. The calendar takes into account all of the City holidays, and conferences identified by staff.

Recommended Action::Recommended Action
Review draft 2027 City Council Meeting Calendar and provide direction regarding the October and November Work Sessions and direct staff to add the resolution to the October 12, 2026, Regular Meeting Consent Agenda for approval.
