Executive Summary:
Council is asked to approve the addition of builder’s risk insurance to the contract with Daniels & Daniels Construction Company, Inc. for the Terminal Renovations Phase III project. The cost of the insurance is $5,600.
Background:
Council awarded the construction contract for the Terminal Renovations Phase III project to Daniels & Daniels Construction Company, Inc., and authorized the City Manager to execute the contract on January 8, 2024.
The information that was presented to Council inadvertently did not include the cost of the builder’s risk insurance ($5,600), which is required by the City to provide insurance coverage during the construction or renovation of City buildings. The corrected amount of the contract is:
Daniels & Daniels Construction Company, Inc. $ 3,226,000
Plus, Builder’s Risk Insurance $ 5,600
$ 3,231,600
Issues/Analysis:
None
Budget Impact:
There is no impact to the General Fund. The project budget contains sufficient funds to cover the increased amount of the contract.
Options:
• Approve the addition of builder’s risk insurance to the contract for construction of Terminal Renovations Phase III with Daniels & Daniels Construction Company, Inc.
• Do not approve the addition of builder’s risk insurance to the contract for construction of Terminal Renovations Phase III with Daniels & Daniels Construction Company, Inc., and provide additional direction to staff.
Recommended Action:
Staff recommends that Council move to approve the addition of builder’s risk insurance to the construction contract with Daniels & Daniels Construction Company, Inc.
