Relationship To Strategic Plan:

Goal IV: Desirable Place to Live, Work and Recreate

Objective 4.4: To provide a clean and beautiful community with increased green spaces.

Executive Summary:

Council is asked to adopt a resolution to authorize a municipal agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) for installation of irrigation and landscaping, along the Raeford Road roadway project. The City will fund 100% of the cost to install the irrigation.

Background:

As part of the FY18 budget, the city appropriated funding for sidewalk and irrigation on the U-4405A Raeford Road Project.  The roadway construction is complete and NCDOT is preparing for the landscaping phase of the project.   This project will include irrigation to the new planted areas.

The proposed “draft” municipal agreement from the NCDOT has an estimated cost of $65,000 to the city for the irrigation. Total Funding amount $65,000.

Issues/Analysis:

Irrigation is critical to the survivability of plant material that is to be installed along Raeford Road.

Budget Impact:

There is no impact to the General Fund.  FY18 budget appropriated funding for the City’s share of the municipal agreement for the irrigation for this project.
