Relationship To Strategic Plan:

Goal 4 - Desirable Place to Live, Work, and Recreate

Executive Summary:

The Parks & Recreation Master Plan for Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation (FCPR) is updated every 10 years. This plan serves as a roadmap for future progress within the department and for recreational opportunities for all FCPR participants. At this midpoint of the 2020 adopted plan, an update is being provided regarding upgrades to existing parks to reflect best practices in park design.

Background:

Since the adoption of the 2020 Master Plan document by City and County officials, staff have continued to work toward areas for objectives outlined in the plan, to provide citizens with improvements as identified.

Among these objectives is a focus to upgrade existing parks to reflect best practices in park design for:

                     Diversity of park amenities

                     Green infrastructure

                     Maintenance

                     ADA + inclusivity

                     Shade + comfort

                     Placemaking

                     Connectivity

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) + Safety
