Executive Summary:

City Council is asked to adopt minor changes to the Historic Resources Commission Charter. The changes result from the recodification of local planning and development statues into Chapter 160D of North Carolina General Statutes.

Background:

In 2021, North Carolina’s local planning and development statutes were recodified into Chapter 160D of the General Statutes. This recodification included provisions related to Historic Resources Commissions. In response, staff have updated the Historic Resources Commission Charter to reference the updated general statute sections.

Similar updates to the Commission's bylaws were reviewed and approved at their April 2025 meeting.
