The grant supports Goal IV, Desirable Place to Live, Work and Recreate, through youth recreation equipment, and Goal V, Financially Sound City Providing Exemplary Services, through external funding.
Executive Summary:
The recommended Budget Ordinance Amendment 26-0644 accepts and appropriates a $3,000 North Carolina Amateur Sports (NCAS) Youth Sports Grant to purchase youth racquet sports equipment for Fayetteville Cumberland Parks and Recreation programs serving Fayetteville and Cumberland County. It also authorizes the City Manager to execute the documents required to accept and administer the grant.
Background:
The NCAS Youth Sports Grant Fund uses a portion of North Carolina sports wagering tax revenues for youth sports equipment and facility improvements. Its July 29, 2026, notice awarded Fayetteville Cumberland Parks and Recreation $3,000 for Youth Racquet Sports Equipment.
Issues/Analysis:
Grant funds are restricted to items in the approved application budget. Purchases must occur within 12 months of receipt; receipts, required photos and unused funds are due within 13 months. Noncompliance may require repayment.
Budget Impact:
