Relationship To Strategic Plan:
Goal 4: Evaluate and expand transportation, transit and other connectivity needs for residents.
Executive Summary:
The Council is asked to approve the award of a contract for the purchase and installation of an in-ground hydraulic bus lift at the FAST Transit Maintenance Facility.
Background:
FAST initiated this project to upgrade an existing maintenance pit at its 433 Grove Street facility to safely service modern heavy duty transit buses. The project includes furnishing and installing a complete in-ground hydraulic bus lift system capable of servicing 29-foot to 40-foot buses. The lift shall be installed and integrated with existing building infrastructure to meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Two proposals were received on April 2, 2026; one was deemed non-responsive for failing to provide a complete, firm cost for required site preparation/engineering. Based on responsiveness to the RFP requirements, price, and reference checks, the selection committee (Transit, Purchasing, and Construction Management) recommends award to C&A Equipment Services, Inc. in the amount of $209,270.00.
This project is funded through the Federal Transit Administration. Grant # NC202501
