Executive Summary:
The City of Fayetteville is one of five Military Host Cities (MHC) in North Carolina and part of an aligned coalition that includes Jacksonville, Goldsboro, Havelock, and Elizabeth City. Each municipality's designation as an MHC is the first step in pursuing formal recognition by the State of North Carolina.
Background:
In coordination with each municipality and the NC Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), each MHC will be passing a resolution to confirm their status and inherent relationship with the neighboring military installation. Fayetteville is the first MHC to pass a resolution; the other MHC Coalition members will follow suit and pass similar resolutions through the appropriate governing bodies. Through coordination with NC DMVA, the MHC Coalition will continue pursuing state legislation recognizing the MHC designation.
