Executive Summary:

The purpose of this agenda item is to increase the municipal election filing fees for the City Council by one cent.

 

 

Background: 

Municipal Election Filing Fees are based on 1% of salary. Currently City Council salary is $20,598.56 and the Mayor’s salary is $37,675.59.  The Cumberland County Board of Elections stated the filing fee for City Council equals $205.99 and have requested that the filing fee be increased by one cent to $206.00. The Mayor’s filing fee will remain the same at $376.76.

 

 

Issues/Analysis: 

Whether to move forward with the municipal election filing fee increase of one cent for City Council.

 

 

Budget Impact: 

None.

 

 

Options

1.                     Move forward with the filing fee increase of one cent for City Council for a total of $206.00.

2.                     Do not move forward with the filing fee increase of one cent for City Council.

3.                     Provide additional direction to staff.

 

 

 

Recommended Action: 

Staff recommends that Council provide direction to staff as to Council’s interest.
