Executive Summary:
The City has been awarded the North Carolina Amateur Sports (NCAS) Youth Sports Grant for Youth Football Safety Equipment in the amount of $20,000. This grant will benefit the youth of Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Staff is seeking authorization to accept the grant award and adoption of Budget Ordinance Amendment (BOA) 2025-11 to appropriate the grant funding.


Background:
The State of North Carolina and North Carolina Amateur Sports have established an annual youth sports grant fund from a percentage of the sports wagering tax revenues. Youth sports grants are provided annually to local government agencies and certain non-profits in all 100 North Carolina counties. The grant funds may be used for youth sports equipment or facility upgrades and improvements that primarily benefit youth sports. The total amount available for the state fiscal year 2024-2025 is $20,000 per North Carolina county.
