Executive Summary:
Fayetteville Technical Community College has requested a "No Parking/ Loading/ Unloading" zone on Hull Road. After further study, staff agree and recommend the relevant traffic schedules be updated to satisfy the request.
Background:
The City received and investigated a request from Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) to install "No Parking/ Standing/ Drop off" near the pedestrian crosswalk at approximately 2220 Hull Road. City staff have been made aware of a pedestrian collision at this location, as well as the presence of High School students attending courses on the campus near this location.
Hull Road is under the ownership of the City.
To address concerns with pedestrian safety, City staff are actively pursuing the installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB's) at the subject crosswalk. The RRFB's are currently being shipped to the contractor the City will be using for this effort and are expected to be installed by late June/early July.
From reviewing the site, staff have identified an approximately 2,210 feet, or 0.42 miles, area where pedestrian activity is likely to occur. To reduce the conflict of vehicles and pedestrians, increasing visibility of pedestrians crossing Hull Road is desired. To i...
