Executive Summary:
Council is asked to adopt Budget Ordinance Amendment 2024-14 to make a Fund Balance Appropriation of $8,814 from the General Fund to appropriate funding for the increased cost of City Council travel in Mayor, Council, City Clerk.
This BOA will appropriate an additional $968 for Council members to attend the NCLM CityVision Conference and $7,846 for travel expenses to St. Avold, France.
Background:
Each member of City Council receives $7,000 for travel each fiscal year. However, due to inflation and travel needs, two Council Members need additional funding in order to attend the 2024 NCLM CityVision Conference in Winston-Salem.
Additionally, three Council Members will journey to St. Avold, France, the sister city of Fayetteville, to participate in American Week, fostering ongoing diplomatic ties.

Budget Impact:
The General Fund fund balance will be reduced by $8,814.
Options:
1) Adopt Budget Ordinance Amendment 2024-14.
2) Do not adopt Budget Ordinance 2024-14 and provide further direction to staff.
Recommended Action:
Staff recommends that the Council move to adopt Budget Ordinance Amendment 2024-14 as presented.
