Executive Summary:
The Planning Commission is an appointed citizen advisory board which conducts public meetings regarding long-range, continuing, and comprehensive planning. The Planning Commission reviews and makes recommendations to City Council on text amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance, planned developments, subdivision waivers, and development agreements. They also have decision and appeal authority on subdivision plans, final plats, subdivision exemptions, and major or minor site plans. Lastly, they are authorized to handle alternative signage plans and neighborhood compatibility permits which are appealed to City Council.

The attached report reviews the activity and major issues during the past year.

Background:
The authority of the Fayetteville Planning Commission is established by NCGS ? 160D-301 and NCGS ? 160D-307 whose structure and mandate are outlined by UDO Section 30-2.A.4. Created is a nine (9) member citizen board with two (2) alternatives who are appointed by City Council for up to two (2) consecutive two (2) year terms. This board meets regularly on third Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm in the Lafeyette Room.
