Relationship To Strategic Plan:
Goal I: The City of Fayetteville will be a safe and secure community.
Objective 1.2: To ensure traffic and pedestrian safety.
Goal IV: The City of Fayetteville will be a highly desirable place to live, work and recreate.
Objective 4.5: To ensure a place for people to live in great neighborhoods.

Executive Summary:
NCDOT conducted a review of the speed limit along Graham Road (State Road 1105) at the request of CM Derrick Thompson. After review, NCDOT is recommending the speed limit of 45 mph be repealed along Graham Road, from Raeford Road (US 401) to Strickland Bridge Road (State Road 1104). Should the 45 mph speed limit ordinance be repealed, the statutory speed limit of 35 mph would take effect. NCDOT is requesting City Council to concur with the repeal of the 45 mph speed limit ordinance.

Background:
CM Thompson requested NCDOT review the speed limit along Graham Road. After review, NCDOT contacted City Staff to request the municipal certificate for the speed limit repeal to be completed. NCDOT is recommending the speed limit of 45 mph be repealed and the statutory speed limit of 35 mph to take effect between Raeford Road and Strickland Bridge Road.

Issues/Analysis:
NCDOT is requesting City Council repeal the municipal certificate for the existing 45 mph speed limit and allow the statutory speed limit of 35 mph to apply for Graham Road. Should Council reject the certificate, the existing 45 mph speed limit will remain.

Budget Impact:
