Goal IV - Desirable Place to Live, Work and Recreate

Executive Summary:
City Council is asked to accept two Airport Improvement Program grants, AIP 59 in the amount of $6,613,129 and AIP 60 in the amount of $5,332,671, for the reconstruction of the North General Aviation Apron. The total grant award is $11,945,800. A required 5% local match of $597,290 will be funded through an appropriation of Airport Unassigned Capital Fund Balance. The full project budget will be appropriated with the adoption of the FY 2027 Budget Ordinance.
Background:
In 2019, a Pavement Management System Update identified the referenced apron as having a Pavement Condition Index value of 75, which is considered good. However, the NCDOT Division of Aviation recommended rehabilitation or reconstruction to help the apron continue supporting aircraft loads in future years. The pavement is now in fair condition, and airport management is taking proactive steps to maintain safe and efficient aeronautical operations.
Issues/Analysis:
None
Budget Impact:
There is no impact to the General Fund. The match will be funded by the appropriation of Airport Unassigned Capital Fund Balance.
