Executive Summary:
Bids were received for the construction of Mable C. Smith Community Center. The lowest responsive, responsible bidder is Alpha Builders and Consultants, Fayetteville, NC in the total amount of $595,000.00

Background:
On March 15, 2016, Fayetteville voters passed a $35 million bond referendum for parks and recreation projects including several new projects as well as renovations to a few existing parks and facilities. Since voters approved the bond package, several projects have been completed and several more are currently under construction or under design.
Included in the bond package were improvements to the Mable C. Smith Park, the construction of a 2,900 SF building, expansion of the existing parking lot, a new splash pad, renovated playground, and walking trail improvements. Construction of the splash pad and new playground has been completed

This bid was solicited to complete the work already substantially underway from a previous contractor who resigned, prior to completion. The remaining existing project budget ($606,000) is sufficient to execute the bid. Staff also seeks Council's authorization to allocate $100,000 from the Capital Project Close Out Ordinance funds.
