Executive Summary:

The City Council Policies Review Committee have met every two weeks since January 25, 2023.  From those meeting the Committee unanimously approved revisions and rescissions to several Council policies (attached to this CCAM).

The Committee Members are: Council Member Kathy Jensen (Chair), Council Member D.J. Haire, and Council Member Derrick Thompson.  Staff serving this Committee are:  Jeffrey Yates, Assistant City Manager, Jodi Phelps, Chief of Staff, Lachelle Pulliam, Assistant City Attorney, and Pamela Megill, City Clerk.

Background:

Mayor Colvin appointed Council Members Jensen, Haire and Thompson to serve as the City Council Policies Review Committee, Council Member Jensen, to serve as Chair.  The Committee has met every two weeks since January 25, 2023.  The Committee has consulted with several Directors and Department Heads on various technical Council Policies.  It is from those meetings and discussions that the Committee has put forth recommendations for many policies to be revised or rescinded.

The recommendations were sent to full Council each time the Committee had voted to approve the recommendations.  The recommendations were again sent to full Council on April 19, 2023, with a request to contact the Committee Members if they have any questions or concerns.
