Relationship To Strategic Plan:
As the City of Fayetteville continues to grow and thrive, the City Council and staff remain committed to moving forward together through a strategic plan that clearly defines a shared vision for the community's future. The plan supports long-term vitality and sustainability while providing direction for the City's programs, services, and performance expectations. This commitment to strategic planning and performance management strengthens the City's ability to deliver excellent services and maintain a high quality of life for residents.
Executive Summary:
The Fayetteville City Council has worked diligently to strengthen the organization's commitment to high performance by using data and stakeholder input to develop a forward-thinking, relevant, and outcome-based strategic plan for the City.
The Mayor, City Council, and staff share a responsibility to ensure that the actions of public officials, employees, contractors, and volunteers are carried out in the most responsible manner possible. This responsibility includes ensuring that City policies, budgets, goals, and objectives are fully implemented and aligned with the City Council's priorities.
In February 2026, the City Council held a one-day strategic planning retreat to refine the City's strategic plan. During the retreat, Council reviewed existing goals, discussed past accomplishments, and agreed on four strategic priorities for FY 2027.
