Executive Summary:
The City of Fayetteville intends to develop and implement a sentinel event review process.
Background:
On June 10, 2024, the City Council took action to develop and implement a sentinel event review process for selected events that occur within the City, to include officer-involved fatalities. In response, the City Attorney’s Office has prepared an introduction to the process and is seeking feedback and further direction from the Council.
Issues/Analysis:
Council would like to implement a sentinel event review process which will be a first for the City of Fayetteville. Council will provide feedback and direction for staff regarding what the process will entail.

Options:
1. Provide direction to staff and proceed with the development and implementation of a sentinel event review process.
2. Not proceed with the development and implementation of a sentinel event review process.
