Executive Summary:
At the Tuesday, March 4, 2025 Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission meeting, the Commission reviewed City Council's request regarding the renaming of Woodrow Park. After review and discussion, the Commission unanimously approved the recommendation to rename Woodrow Park to Haymount Park at Woodrow.
Per City Council Policy 155.4 section A.3 the City Council shall hold a public hearing before the naming or renaming of any facility or property and the public hearing shall be held in accordance with the City Council policy on public hearings.
This public hearing was properly noticed in the Fayetteville Observer.
Background:
During the Monday, February 3, 2025, City Council Work Session, Council Member Lynne Greene introduced a Council Member Agenda Item Request by the Friends of Haymount to rename Woodrow Park to Haymount Park at Woodrow.
Consensus of Council was to initiate the process and send the request to rename Woodrow Street Park to the Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission for review and recommendation.
