Executive Summary:
Request for a Resolution of Support - Resolving our Opioid Crisis.
Background:
Ms. Jenn Alexander, Resident of District 8 and Member of the National Organization of women and a volunteer with the League of Women’s Voters’ Health Care Legislative Action Team, has requested to present to City Council information on HB 662 (Carolina Cares). Ms. Alexander has also requested Council consideration of a Resolution in support of the bill.
Carolina Cares would bridge the gap in healthcare coverage for those who do not qualify for Medicaid but also don’t qualify for ACA subsidies. This includes 38,000 people in Cumberland County alone, and 12,000 veterans in our state.
