Executive Summary:

The purpose of this agenda item is to consider adoption of a resolution of intent setting the date for a public hearing to consider adoption of an ordinance amending the City Charter to change the mode of electing the City Council to four-year terms.

 

 

Background: 

Council discussed adoption of four-year staggered terms at the May 2018 work session.  Consensus at that time was to move forward with adoption of a resolution of intent for four-year terms.  The proposed resolution of intent reflects the public hearing will be held on May 28, 2018.

 

 

Issues/Analysis: 

Whether to go forward with adoption of the proposed resolution of intent to hold a public hearing on May 28, 2018.

 

 

Budget Impact: 

Unknown at this time.

 

 

Options

1.                     Accept the proposed resolution of intent.

2.                     Do not accept the proposed resolution of intent.

3.                     Provide additional direction to staff.

 

 

 

Recommended Action: 

Staff recommends that Council provide direction to staff as to Council’s interest.
