Goal 3:  High Quality Built Environment

Goal 4:  Desirable Place to Live, Work and Recreate

Executive Summary:

City Council indicated concerns over the development review process as it pertains to meeting the requirements of the Chapter 24 of the City Ordinance, commonly referred to as the City Stormwater Ordinance.  In order to address these concerns, the City retained Raftelis, a public sector advisory firm, to review the City’s Stormwater Program.  The first phase of this review examines the process used to ensure new development in the City is in compliance with stormwater regulations.  Raftelis will present their findings to the City Council.

Background:

Per Chapter 24 of the City Ordinance, known as the Stormwater Ordinance, new developments within the City of Fayetteville must undergo a review process to ensure compliance with stormwater quantity requirements. Similar processes take place in many communities with in the Region.  Raftelis has examined the City’s process, conducted interviews, and gathered data to see how Fayetteville compares to other communities.  Recommendations for potential improvements are provided in the report.

Issues/Analysis:

The Council expressed an interest in improving the stormwater development review process, and the study conducted by Raftelis is the first step in the process.
