Executive Summary:
The purpose of this agenda item is to increase the municipal election filing fees for the Mayor and City Council.
Background:
At the August 6, 2018, work session, Council discussed this item and the consensus of Council was to bring this item back to a regular meeting for approval to increase the filing fee to 1 percent of the position’s salaries. The filing fee for the Mayor would increase to $312.55 and to $170.88 for City Council.
Issues/Analysis:
Whether to approve the municipal election filing fee increase.
Budget Impact:
Unknown at this time.
Options:
1. Approve the filing fee increase.
2. Do not approve the filing fee increase.
3. Provide additional direction to staff.
Recommended Action:
Staff recommends that Council provide direction to staff as to Council’s interest.
