Executive Summary:
The Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) was authorized by the Federal Transportation Funding Act - the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) that was signed into law on July 16, 2012. The Transportation Alternatives Program provides expanded travel choices, strengthens the local economy, improves the quality of life and protects the environment.
TAP projects are reviewed and selected for funding by the Fayetteville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO). FAMPO placed a call for projects for 2018 on July 11, 2018 to eligible jurisdictions within their metropolitan planning area. FAMPO has $1,800,000 in available funding for 2018. Deadline for applications was August 31, 2018.
The Public Services Department submitted the following project applications for consideration of TAP funding:
1. Rosehill Road - Install sidewalk on the eastside of Rosehill Road from Country Club Drive northward to Shaw Mill Road. This project has received TAP funds previously in the amount of $436,500 with $113,500 in City matching funds. The project estimate has increased based on additional drainage work required by NCDOT. We are requesting an additional $240,000 in TAP funds that will require an additional $60,000 in City matching funds for a total of $300,000. This location was identified in Comprehensive Pedestrian plan.
2. Skibo Road - Install sidewalk (filling in gaps) and bus stop pads on the west side of Skibo Road from Richwood Court (across from Home Depot) northward to Bragg Boulevard. Requested $480,000 in TAP funds that w...
