Executive Summary:
The Council is asked to award a contract for the purchase of 25 marked Dodge Chargers with up fit for the Police Department in the amount of $748,591 and 21 unmarked Dodge Chargers with up fit in the amount of $583,214.
Background:
An advertisement for formal bids for 25 marked full size police cars and 21 unmarked full size police cars was sent out to prospective bidders by the City of Fayetteville Purchasing Department on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. The due date and time as scheduled for Thursday, August 23, 2018. The purchasing department received a total of 3 bids. The bidders included for the 25 marked full size police cars Performance Automotive Group for $748,591; Horace G Ilderton for $758,225 and Lafayette Ford for $794,500. Staff recommends that Council approve the contract to Performance Automotive Group, Clinton, NC for the 25 marked full size police cars. Each vehicle cost $29,943.64 and this includes complete up fit. The bidders included for the 21 marked full size police cars Performance Automotive Group for $583,214; Ilderton Dodge for $574,938 and Lafayette Ford for $588,273. Staff recommends that Council approve the contract to Performance Automotive Group, Clinton, NC for the 21 marked full size police cars. Each vehicle cost $27,772.10 and this includes complete up fit.
Staff recommends that Council approve the contract to Performance Automotive Group for the 25 marked Dodge Chargers and 21 unmarked Dodge Chargers.
