Executive Summary:
Have a council discussion concerning which services within the Solid Waste Division. Identify if the current council wants to continue this target for action in FY19
Background:
Weekly containerized solid waste pick-up; Back door collection; Bulky item pick-up; Bulky limb collection; Weekly yard waste curbside collection; Special event support, Rapid response resolutions; Illegal dump remediation; Pick-up of recyclables from City owned facilities, Dead animal collection; Cart purchase & maintenance; Emergency response activities; Call center for solid waste complaints.
Issues/Analysis:
Determine what impact the fleet maintenance initiative might have and visa versa. What impact will outsourcing some or all services of the Solid Waste Division have on the us moving forward with a contract for fleet maintenance.
Discuss if any of the recommendations in the comprehensive Solid Waste Study (May 2015) have been implemented. Basic update. i.e. Reduce number of spare vehicles, cost to transition to every-other-week collection of recyclables and 96 gallon carts; vehicle repairs on second shift extra
