Executive Summary:

The Fayetteville Public Works Commission requests The Fayetteville City Council to declare October 7-13, 2018 as Public Power Week - the time we take to recognize the important role that municipal electric utilities play in the communities they serve.

Background:

The week of October 7th is National Public Power Week, where we take time and recognize he important role that municipal electric utilities play in the communities they serve.

With the response and the results that the PWC was able to achieve with Hurricane Florence, this value was on full display.  In the past the City Council has approved a resolution recognizing Public Power Week and specifically PWC as Fayetteville’s Hometown Utility.

The PWC is requesting for the City Council to approve such a resolution at its October 8, 2018, Council meeting.
