Executive Summary:
Capital Project Ordinance 2019-19 will appropriate a $27,900 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, passed through the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Management, for the purchase of a portable shelter system hub to provide interconnectivity with existing portable shelters. There is no local match required for the grant.
Background:
The City has received notification of the award of federal grant funds for the purchase of a portable shelter system hub. The DLX HUB Interconnectivity Shelter System equipment grant funds the purchase of a 17’ x 17’ quick deployment shelter that connects with two existing DLX tents owned by the Fayetteville Fire/Emergency Management Department to form a larger system. This shelter system is also part of a standardized and interoperable disaster deployable resource package developed by North Carolina Emergency Management.
Issues/Analysis:
None
Budget Impact:
There is no impact to the General Fund as no local match is required.
Options:
1) Adopt Capital Project Ordinance 2019-19 to appropriate the grant funds and allow staff to move forward with the equipment purchase.
2) Do not adopt Capital Project Ordinance 2019-19 and provide direction to staff.
Recommended Action:
Staff recommends that Council move to adopt Capital Project Ordinance 2019-19 as presented.
