Executive Summary:

The Appointment committee met on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, to review applications for appointments to the Historic Resources Commission, at that meeting the Appointment Committee reached consensus to recommend four (4) of the 8 applicants for four (4) vacancies:

 

David Bahlman

Michael Pennick

Timothy Jackson

Lynda Deaton

 

City Council is asked to appoint four applicants to the Historic Resources Commission for a Partial 2-year term of office to be effective June 15, 2021 thru March 31, 2023.

 

Background: 

The Appointment Committee consists of the following members:  Mayor Colvin, MPT Jensen (Chair), Council Member Dawkins, Council Member Kinston and Council Member Davis.

 

 

Issues/Analysis: 

These “out of regular cycle” appointments are necessary as the Commission currently only has three serving members of a 7-member Commission, due to three resignations and one termination for excessive absences.  The Commission currently does not have a quorum.

 

 

Budget Impact: 

N/A

 

 

Options

1. Appoint four applicants to the Historic Resources Commission.

2. Do not appoint applicants to the Historic Resources Commission and provide direction to staff.

 

 

Recommended Action: 

Appoint four applicants to the Historic Resources Commission.
