Executive Summary:
Council is asked to adopt the Capital Project Ordinance Amendment CPOA 2024-9 to appropriate Cumberland County funding. CPOA 2024-9 will appropriate $350,000 for the renovations to Orange Street School.

COUNTY will contribute $350,000.00 for the fixtures, furniture and equipment ("FFE") for the restored SCHOOL in its FY 24 budget. CITY will oversee the FFE purchases for the SCHOOL and place the items into use.

The COUNTY will make a one lump sum payment to the CITY after the execution of this Agreement.

This Agreement shall terminate when the Project is completed.


Background:
The City and the Cumberland County entered into an agreement for renovations to Orange Street School. The funding is to be utilized for furniture, fixture, and equipment items at Orange Street School.

On March 28, 2022, City Council appropriated the State Direct Grant funding of $2,700,000 for renovations to historic sites, including Orange Street School, the E.E. Smith House, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, the Umoja Wall, and the Market House.

On June 26, 2023, City Council appropriated the Umoja Group Inc. funding of $150,000 for renovations to the Umoja Wall of Honor.
