Executive Summary:
Staff is requesting that City Council approve a Municipal Landscape Maintenance Agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) for Project B-4490(L) landscaping and irrigation at the intersection of Bragg Blvd and Rowan Street. The cost of the project is $49,031. City Council adopted the FY2024 Budget Ordinance on June 21, 2023, which appropriated $50,000 in the general fund for Project B-4490(L).



Background:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) completed Transportation Improvement Project B-4490 to replace the Rowan Street Bridge. The City entered into a municipal agreement with NCDOT to fund improvements that enhance aesthetics of this gateway corridor approaching the downtown area.

On June 13, 2016, Council adopted Capital Project Ordinance (CPO) 2016-22 to appropriate a $382,655 transfer from the General Fund to fund estimated costs for the municipal agreement with the NCDOT for enhancements of the Rowan Street Bridge project including the addition of brick colored stamped concrete medians, black coating on the traffic and pedestrian signal poles, upgraded fencing designs, sleeves for future landscape irrigation, sidewalk, and painting of the outer girders on the bridges.
