Executive Summary:
The purpose of this agenda item is to provide a report regarding abating nuisance businesses.
Background:
At the October 2, 2023, City Council work session, consensus of Council was to direct the City Attorney’s Office to conduct research to determine what constitutes a nuisance and bring back options to address this in an Administrative Report. The attached memorandum provides the report as directed.
Issues/Analysis:
Explain what constitutes a nuisance under Chapter 19 of the North Carolina General Statutes and other nuisances under City Code.
Budget Impact:
Unknown at this time.
Options:
1. Receive the report.
2. Do not receive the report.
3. Provide additional direction to staff.
Recommended Action:
Staff recommends that Council receive the report and provide additional direction to staff as to Council’s interest.
