Executive Summary:
The "Sustainability Plan - Project Kickoff" marks the beginning of an ambitious endeavor by the City of Fayetteville, in partnership with Blue Strike Environmental, to develop a comprehensive sustainability framework to enhance the quality of life, promote economic vitality, and ensure environmental stewardship. This initiative will encompass a broad range of sustainability measures across energy, transportation, waste management, and community engagement to meet the current and future needs of all residents and sectors within the city while firmly aligning with the city's strategic plan to foster a resilient and thriving community for generations to come.
Background:
Following the Mayor and City Council's strategic directive and the allocation of funds, the City of Fayetteville is embarking on developing an updated Sustainability Plan. This initiative builds on the foundational efforts of the 2012 plan, recognizing the evolving needs and opportunities to enhance our city's sustainability further. As we stand at the precipice of this project's commencement, it's pivotal to reflect on past achievements and chart a course for a sustainable future that aligns with our community's values and aspirations.

Budget Impact:
The Mayor and City Council allocated this investment from ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds. The financial commitment for developing the updated Sustainability Plan, facilitated by Blue Strike Environmental, is $113,210.
