Executive Summary:
The Economic and Community Development Department (ECD) has worked with community stakeholders and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to hire outside experts to survey the Broadell Community. The initial survey has been completed and the SHPO has added this historic community to their state-wide study list. The next step in the process will require an additional grant from the State to nominate the Broadell Community to the National Register of Historic Places. City staff is preparing to apply for that grant by the May 10, 2024 submission deadline.

Background:
During the community engagement portion of the Murchison Choice Planning Grant, community stakeholders requested a historic designation for the Broadell Community. In response, the City's ECD applied for and was awarded a Certified Local Government (CLG) grant to conduct an architectural survey that consisted of the following:
1. A study area that encompasses the Broadell Community (Holly Springs) and its extraterritorial jurisdiction,
