The Fayetteville City Council's strategic plan is a guide for high performing governance.
Executive Summary:
The City Council finds that high performance and government innovation is grounded in transparency and accountability which are critical in the public sector for the effective and credible functioning of a healthy democracy, and in fulfilling the government's responsibility to citizens and taxpayers. Transparent and reliable reporting serve to promote accountability, enhance the effectiveness of government services to its citizens, and increase the public's confidence in their government. The Mayor, City Council, and staff share a duty to ensure that the actions of public officials, employees, contractors, and volunteers of the City are carried out in the most responsible manner possible and that city policy, budgets, goals, and objectives are fully implemented. The attached resolution affirms the City Council commitment to high performance, government innovation and transparency and accountability, providing a foundation for the organizational culture.
Embracing the culture, the City of Fayetteville was recently named the most innovative city in the country, according to a new report from Governing in collaboration with the nonprofit Living Cities. The attached report details the recognition.
